Catholic Social Teachings

The Catholic Social Teaching are very useful. When you apply them to you life they make you happy to know that you did something useful for someone other than yourself. In my opinion the the best Catholic Social Teaching is Care for God's Creation. There are many ways that we can help God's world. We can raise money to help animal shelter with food and medicine. Also if you want people can go down neighborhoods or highways and collect trash that may endanger the environment.
Another Catholic Social Teaching that I believe can help society is Life and Dignity of the Human Person. When we use this teaching many things come to mind: respect and understanding. Respect is important to many people. For some it shows that we can adapt to their rules and how they chose to do things. Also we can listen to what they have to say and tell them our opinion in the nicest way possible. To understand someone you must be nice to the other person and treat them with the same respect that you may give some other person you know. There are many ways we can show Life and Dignity in the Human Person.

Catholic Social Teachings

Catholic Social Teachings are the seven teachings that help us live a Christian life. Living as God did is something that everyone should try to do. One of the most important Catholic Social Teachings to me would be Life and Dignity of the Human person. It tells me that we are all equal and God loves each and everyone of us the exact same. God made us in His image and likeness, so why should we make fun of the people He made and loves so much?Treating someone with respect is the right thing to do.

Life and Dignity of the Human person is so important it can make you a better person if you just live by it. It's not hard either. All you have to do is treat someone like they deserve for example giving the complements instead of insults. There are so many little things you can do to make someone feel good about themselves, a simple 'hey' can make all the difference, you will have no idea how much it will make their day. Try doing these things each and ever day and maybe you to can be a a follower of one of the Catholic Social Teachings.

The Catholic Social Teachings and My Opinion

After writing this blog, it made me think that there are so many easy ways to live out the Catholic Social Teachings. Like for instance, we can care more for people who are less fortunate then we are. We can take care of our beaches by cleaning them up. We see things that need changing everyday. It is so easy to help. It is as simple as picking up a piece of trash off of the side of the road. Or picking up a can and recycling it. We could help the poor and vulnerable by giving them food and clothes. God gave us rights and we should use them properly and well. We all can live these out each and everyday. We are all called to live out the Catholic Social Teachings. We can either make it easy or we can make it hard. I learned that all of the Catholic Social Teachings are easy to live out. Caring for God's creation, to me is the easiest one of all. Everyone wants to save the earth, but never actually put it into action. We should. First, your saving our planet and second, we are living out the Catholic Social Teachings. See how easy it is? One day at a time, thats all it takes. Go one step at a time, and I promise, you WILL get somewhere.
God Bless,

Opinion Article

I think solidarity is the most important catholic social teaching. Solidarity allows us to be ourselves with normal human rights. An example of solidarity would be allowing everybody in a class to join the latesest club. Solidarity cannot be abused by anyone who tries. I think solidarity should be teached in every religion class at every catholic school. This is a catholic social teaching that should not be turned down. Although I think solidarity is the most important catholic social teaching, dignity of work and workers is also an important catholic social teaching. Dignity of work and workers has the same meaning of solidarity. This is because solidarity and dignity of work and workers allows us to be humans with human rights. If I had to choose between these two, I would choose solidarity. -Alex

Dignity of work and workers

Dignity of work and workers is one of the most important catholic social teachings. It tells us that workers deserve the same rights as humans. We can live this out by treating workers with respect like the right pay and fair hours. Workers are probaly the most renown people on the earth. This is a catholic social teaching that can help all ofus. If we start living out this catholic social teaching now, it can help us a lot in the future. Workers deserve such luxurious stuff for all their hard work. This can impact all of our lives in so many ways. This is a very important catholic social teaching for everbody. _ Alex

Option for the Poor and Vunerable

In the world there are a many people that need our help. These people are the poor and venerable. These people are those who need the assistance of the societies. In our basic moral testing we most know how are venerable. When we take care of the poor and those in need we must remember that Lord will check our conscience and decide whether or not we can go to heaven. When we think about ourselves, we must first decide did we put those in need before we take care of ourselves. If so, how have we done this?
In the world there are many societies that help in this cause. There is the St. Vincent de Paul Society, who helps by collecting money and clothes to the homeless. Also the missionary groups, who in time of need go to foreign countries and teach the people a useful trade and provide the essentials to increase the countries materials. Pier Giorgio Frassati is an example of this because he started many groups to help this cause of option for the poor and venerable. Other examples are Saint Francis of Assisi and Dorthy Day.

Solidarity catholic social teaching

Solidarity is the right to be a human with Human rights. We can enforce solidarity in our world by helping foreign people who aren't familiar with american lifestyle. Solidarity allows us to be ourselves despite minor differences such as race, skin tone, or height. When we come together as a family, we show the true meaning of solidarity. Solidarity is an important catholic social teaching that we can live out every day. At schools we see people getting bullied and picked on, so I think that's a great place to enforce the meaning of solidarity. Catholic social teachings can have a strong influence on people's lifes. If more people lived out solidarity, the world could become a better place one step at a time. Song's such as ''we are the world'' tell us that world peace is possible through the power of solidarity. I think solidarity is the most important catholic social teaching. _ Alex

Life and Dignity of the Human Person

Life and Dignity of the Human Person is a big problem in the world today. Abortion is one of the most common disputes of right to life. Having the right to be able to live your life should be the person's decision not the one who made the mistake. There are choices other than abortion such as adoption. Adoption is a win win situation, the baby has a loving home and great parents and the mother has no baby but that would be her decision. But any reason not to keep your child other than giving it a better life is beyond my comprehension.

When you make fun of soemone that is not showing that person that we are all equal and that they deserve to be treated equally and fairly. So many kids today think that it is not a big deal but it is. No one deserves to be mistreated in such a way that makes them feel down and not want to leave their room. Everyone was made in God's image and likeness, so next time you see someone being mistreated, stand up for them it will really make their day!

Call to Family, Community, and Participation

Call to Family, Community, and Participation:
Every person has the right to a social life, politics, and economics. We use these to organize our society. The human person has the right and responsibility to be a social person. This can lead to a good, clean, healthy enviornment. Marriage and family are key points in this. They must be stengthened and spported. We all should be active in our community. For example, we should be involved in community conflicts and politics. Although you may not think its important, your community does care about your opinion. They want to make it a better place to live in. We all should work to better our community...
We all can care for our community by recycling and cleaning up our town. This ties in with Caring for God's Creation. We should all be involved with our society's issues and give our opinion to help the issue. God gave us all rights and this one is pretty important... We should all work to restore our community, one day at a time.
Here is a news article to help you better understand how to help your community in action: http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/04/25/green.monastery/index.html?iref=allsearch

Rights and Responsiblities of the Human Person

This includes a right to a fundamental life.
This also inclues the right to everything to live that fundamental life:
work, housing, family, and healthcare.
One person who lived this out was John Carroll. He was the first man to issue Catholic law in the Declaration of Independence. We all have a right to live a functional life. God calls all of us just to do this. We can all live a good life if we choose to. Remember, we have the RIGHT to a fundamental life.

We choose our own way of life and God gave us the right to a great one, or if you choose, a bad one. God put us on this Earth to live out good, holy, lives and have familys to expand His kingdom. We all have the right to a good, safe, job enviornment and we have the right to earn money for our families.
We also have the right to live in a shelter, or home. Everyone needs shelter no matter who they are, or what job they have. We all have God-given rights. And hopefully, we use them properly and well.
Lauren C.

Care for God's Creation

Care for God's Creation is respecting everything God has made. There are so many things we can do to protect and save God's creation. A couple ways to do this is recycling, not polluting, and just respecting the environment. Recycling helps reduce the amount of trees we have to cut down to get the necessary paper we need. Keeping the air and water clean is someething very simple we an do. All you have to do is put your trash in a trash can instead of littering. Respecting the environment is something that we all probably all need to work on, one easy solution is try to cut down on the plastic it really does hurt our environment.

God put everything on the world for a reason. Have you evr thought of why you were out on this world? Maybe its because you can make a difference. You could be the one to start a group of teenagers to help clean up the beaches or start recycling at local places where they use a lot of things that could be recycled. Everyone and thing deserves to be respected. You, the students of St. John's could make difference. I challenge you if your family does not recycle to talk to your parents about starting to recycle. Remember anything is possible!
